European Travel Information
The purpose of the new ETIAS process is to simplify and modernize border management, enhance the security of travelers and citizens, and facilitate easier travel both into and within participating countries.
It is anticipated that ETIAS application and approval will be required commencing in the last quarter of 2026.
Current Status of ETIAS
The ETIAS was initially planned for 2025, but implementation has been delayed.
The EU now anticipates the ETIAS to be fully operational in the last quarter of 2026.
There will be a transitional period of at least 6 months post-launch where entry is allowed without ETIAS.
After the grace period, ETIAS will be mandatory for all visa-exempt travelers entering 30 European countries.
